The
language of image through time and space |
French |
|
Humanity
in its behavior as in its mental dispositions is in
continuous relentless transformation. The history of
humanity represents for man an accumulation of conquests
of himself as well as of nature. Mankind is able today
to emancipate herself from her animalism, and this is
through her faculty of thinking, through the formation
of his senses and especially through her creative power.
She gradually affirms, throughout the centuries, her
power over things and dominates the world.
Ever
since creation, art (drawing, painting, sculpture, still
image, animated image, moving image) expresses the man’s
will to recapture his nature and the integrality of
his creative power. It survives the societies that engender
it, and the mythologies that inspire it. The plastic
work, especially “the image in all its forms”, materializes
the spiritual and socio-cultural potential of civilizations
in an inexhaustible and changeable form always.
